Our Story

Dial Wood Carriage Driving for the Disabled started in the 1990s with three driving ponies in Flockton, between Huddersfield and Wakefield. Our quiet, out of the way location provides us with the opportunity to enjoy carriage driving and pony riding in our outdoor arena, along local roads and picturesque countryside tracks.

Dial Wood consists of a passionate and diverse team of volunteers, including Trustees, Committee members, Coaches, helpers and fundraisers. We provide a safe, welcoming and friendly environment for disabled drivers and riders from care homes, day centres, schools, and private individuals of all abilities. In addition to carriage driving experiences, we offer Riding Therapy for disabled children and non-ridden Pony therapy.

We are an approved activity provider for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, ASDAN, and the YELA Scheme. We also encourage corporate volunteering days.
